I dropped Asa off headed for his penultimate day of 5th grade today. (This is the word I’m going to ask my students to work into their evaluations of me this month.) I wish we had one more year at the school with his little cohort of classmates who have been together since kindergarden.

But they’ll all part ways and head to three different middle schools next year, and Asa will do a year of schooling at home with me. His buddy’s calling it Howard Academy and teasing him about the small and short graduation ceremony we’ll have at the end of the year. If that’s the worst of the homeschooling teasing, I’ll take it.

I’ve got to get the books that we’re going to use, and start planning out the year in the next few weeks. One more thing for THE LIST.

What’s making me happy:
