I’m starting to think about MdS as a restful vacation with a bit running thrown in. I’m not underestimating the desert...
Russian drama (not the running kind)
LizaAsa is at a sleepover and Eliot fell asleep putting Ruby down, so I’m on my own tonight. Just me, a dirty kitchen, and Amazon Prime Instant Video.
I’ve made my way through most of the BBC and PBS detective shows, so Amazon suggested this:
It sounded like good background to the work I was doing, and I hit play without thinking. Then I switched screens to work on the next Trail Sisters article (It’s going to be good.) Then the Russian voices started. Not Russian-accented voices. Actual Russian voices. I switched back to the show. It turned out to be this awful, schlocky detective program à la “Silk Stalkings” or “NCIS” — in Russia — and Russian. Definitely #1 on the “Three Things That Went Well Today” journal.
And then I came across “Documentary Now” with Bill Hader and Fred Armisen.” #2 in the journal.
#3 will be the new Beta fish making it through the night.
An MdS training update tomorrow.
Olga
Now I have to watch it?
Liza
I don’t know about that, Olga. We’ve never talked about whether you like slightly campy detective shows. If you do, then this is great.

OMG I remember Silk Stalkings! I found it online recently, tried to rewatch – ouch… You might like Agent X on TNT – Sharon Stone as VP, Gerald McRaney as VP’s steward/former operative. Haven’t seen the main guy before, but there’s a female Russian spy who’s a heck of a fighter and fun to watch. Some scenery-chewing and a couple really bad eps, but a conspiracy and some fun. Watch in order.

Oooh. Will check it out while I work through the inbox. 🙂
