That is not the Texas coast.  It is somewhere off Turks and Caicos Islands.

A very generous friend of ours with extra frequent flier miles brought Eliot along on a trip he was taking there. Luckily it’s unseasonably warm in San Antonio right now, so it’s been easy to be supportive.  “A day of snorkeling sounds great!” The kids and I have been watching a documentary about the islands in bits and pieces, and I was hoping for some fancy sea salt in my stocking Christmas morning until we got to the part about the salt industry collapsing in the 1960s.  Maybe a Turk’s cap cactus instead…

So Asa wrote Santa asking for this BB-8 robot for Christmas.

I thought this was just fine until I saw the $160 price tag.  That’s just too much for a toy that will lose its luster before February. Still, I was torn for a while because this will probably be Asa’s last Christmas believing wholeheartedly in Santa Claus.  I’ve settled on a letter from Santa about how he and the elves thought Asa would have more fun building his own robot using a robot kit.  Thoughts?  I’ll let you know how it goes.

In the Manatee to 100k program, I have been awarded my puffer fish badge.

Here’s what my training’s looked like:

Just a few more weeks, one race, and I can start marketing the program.   “Manatee to Minnow: The Ultimate Marine Life Inspired Ultramarathon Training Plan”  I’ll only barter for the plan though.  I need more bartering in my life.  And maybe I’ll need to take a trip to the islands to take pictures of marine life.

Here’s a link to the latest Trail Sisters’ article on irunfar. http://www.irunfar.com/2015/12/some-more-equal-than-others.html

The article didn’t get as many comments this month, which was interesting.  I think the topic might feel too far removed for a lot of people.  We’ll have to spice thinks up next month.  Send your ideas. 🙂

Thanks for sharing your workout plan with us. Curious – what do you with your weight vest on? Your plan says “2 hours with weight vest”. Are you running, calisthenics or just wearing it around the house?

    I really enjoy your blogs.

    TIA

David, Right now I’m just wearing it around — chasing Ruby here and there. It’s my stealth weight workout. I do intend to run downhills in it — and do some uphill treadmill hiking, but I haven’t managed to fit it in. Thanks so much for the blog comment. I’m really looking forward to writing more consistently.

My training log set up is scary close to what yours looks like (not the actual entries!), but what is the yellow column of numbers? You will be a seasnake in no time (a marine animal that does much better on dry land than most marine animals)!

Sea snake! Ooh! That is excellent — and scary too. The yellow column is actual miles run. The white column is planned miles.

Liza, great post. I like that you’ve been including training details as of late. I remember waaay back in the day when you also included what you ate, and I found that to be quite useful, too. Have you ever written a long post about your insomnia? I don’t recall one, but maybe I missed it. It comes up a lot in your posts. It’s a problem that I deal with, as well, so I’d be really interested to know how you manage (or not) with your running and childcare duties on a lack of sleep.

Jeff, Very sorry for my slow response. (See today’s blog post.) Thanks so much for the comment. I will get back to the food log. I’ll aim for the day after Bandera — so I can start off with donuts and Jelly Bellies. 🙂 I’ll definitely write more about sleep and that challenge this week too.
