Sweat streams
I had a stream of sweat running off the brim of my hat today during my run. It was impressive — mainly because I wasn’t sure how long it could go on before I fell over like a desiccated raisin. I lasted three hours with some very speedy friends and then took the rest of the run to the treadmill so I could do some sustained downhill running. I spent the rest of the day in a heat induced torpor. I think it might have hit 90 today. I’m not complaining. It’s south Texas. It’s Hot here. And I’d rather my clothes get wet from sweat than cold rain. It just seems like Hot arrived a bit early this year. So I guess I’m whining.
I’ve been following the search for Micah True as best as I can today too. He disappeared right in the NOLS course area where I’ve worked a number of summers. I hope all turns out well.
Not to be. http://whtc.com/news/articles/2012/apr/01/ultra-marathon-runner-micah-true-found-dead-in-new-mexico/

I’m going to help my dad with surgery again in Phoenix and I hear it’s “hot” there too. Compared to the grey and rain here, it will be luxury for me!
Such sad news about Micah True. Thanks for posting Liza.
I’ll be sending thoughts your dad’s way Lisa. Good to hear from you! Enjoy the sun.
This is a sad day for the running community.
Agreed.
A very sad day
It’s a good reminder too of how one person can impact so many.
Ultra-runners & Significant Others of Ultra Runners (SOURs).
Let’s work up a template for a small dry erase pad. Something like this:

Desert I will make you when I come home:
Dear SOUR,
You could also come and run with me.
But any vanilla based ice cream product is good too.

Found out about Micah Saturday night during the Texas Independence Relay. I was completely shocked to say the least. Ironically, that was when the dry heaves started. I will certainly use his life as inspiration for Hell’s Hills.
Being an inspiration to others after death seems like a fine legacy.
