Heat scenario for you! 203/365

I’ve been working on heat scenario for the irunfar trail first aid series. Let me know what you think!

It’s pretty fun having Brendan illustrating these things.

What’s making me happy: This tweet from @ReadyArlington that @ReadEatWriteRun retweeted.

I enjoyed the article. And I like the humor included along with the illustrations. In Alex Hutchinson’s book Endure there is a story of a young football player that died due to heat stroke and basically his brain and his internal organs got cooked at the cellular level. Very serious to recognize signs/symptoms and treat early! One of the comments asked about hypoglycemia and that would respond quite rapidly to sugar and I would say low risk to give anyone coming into an aid station hydration and glucose as some quick first line treatments to target dehydration and hypoglycemia and then initiate your cooling protocol. Ice to the armpits and groin region quite effective.
