I’m starting to think about MdS as a restful vacation with a bit running thrown in. I’m not underestimating the desert...

I’m not sure what I’m going to do after I run Mad City. If I make the US team, I’ll get to run at Worlds in Croatia on September 8th. (WooHoo!!!) But I don’t know what time goal to aim for there, and I don’t know what I’ll do between now and then. Or after. I’ve never felt quite so directionless running-wise. I think I’d like to keep working on regaining some speed, but I miss the trails and the trail runners on them. Maybe I should just commit to road-ish ultras to get it out of my system and it’s easier to link up with folks to run on the trails. Spartathlon? Badwater? JFK (without making a bed in a pile of leaves)? I know I want to run Pinhoti one day to get this turkey track belt buckle.
And I think I’d like to head back to Marathon to Texas in West Texas to run Marathon to Marathon in October. I love tiny it is and how you just pull off the highway 26.2 miles from town to start.
I’d love to come up with some sort of purposeful plan that made sense. Maybe that’s not in the cards. I do know I need something to help get me push away from the donut-filled table and head out the door for a run — and something to look forward to.
September 8th: World 100k Championships
October 7: Tussey Mountainback?
October 27th: Marathon to Marathon?
November 3: Pinhoti 100?
November 9-11: Trail Camp
November 17th: JFK 50?
January: Houston marathon?
June: San Diego 100?
September 2019: Spartathlon
What’s making me happy:
