I’m up in Houston teaching this weekend and it’s wildly humid. Houston is always more humid than San Antonio, but these are mid-May levels. 78% humidity and 86 degrees. That’s not lunchtime running weather if you don’t have access to a shower.  Luckily my co-instructor was accommodating and let me run for 40 minutes in the neighborhood around our classroom before we headed back to our hotel and its bockety old treadmill. The treadmill whined in distress once I got it up above a 10 minute pace.  I was pretty sure it was going to give up the ghost while I was on it. I figured I’d be bucked off into the mirrored wall behind me in a poof of smoke and sweat. Then I could have taken up the name Treadmill Killer. Gotten a tattoo etc. No such luck tonight though. Maybe tomorrow morning.

What’s making me happy: My hotel bed with its lovely white, unwrinkled sheets, all made up and waiting for me after class today.

Running: 10 miles total. 4.3 on bockety old treadmill at various paces. And 5.7 outside.
