I’m starting to think about MdS as a restful vacation with a bit running thrown in. I’m not underestimating the desert...
Thursday. Thursday is the day one of the two days of the week that Ruby doesn’t go to school for a few hours. Except this week she won’t go to school Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. She has parent teacher conferences on Friday. “Ruby needs to improve her fine motor skills. You can see how her scissors work is choppy here.” Yeah, well, she does a pretty good job picking the door lock on her brother’s bedroom door, so I’m not going to worry — or increase her scissors time.
This three-day school free block coincides with a boatload of work for me — and a boatload running. And I am not handling the accompanying stress in a way that’s endearing me to anyone. It’ll all be easier next week, but right now I feel like I’ve lost control of all the balls I’m juggling and they’re dropping on my head one by one. Whack. Whack. Whack. Whack…Whack.
From Hutchinson’s book, Endure:
So maybe this week will improve my running by making me more accustomed to mental fatigue. Not today though, since I’m just doing the mental fatigue and not the running. Here’s to tomorrow!
Running: ZERO! Whack.
