Playdate panic 30/365

I invited Ruby’s friend and her mom over for a playdate tomorrow. I’ve pretty well failed as a playdate scheduler for Ruby thus far.  The girl has just had to find play on a catch-as-catch-can basis. Anyway, I’m a bit panicked now. The house is a disaster.  Messy AND dirty.  Syrup on counters, hand prints on windows, naked barbies everywhere. Cat hair. Cat hair. Cat hair. And today is entirely full with work and running. Honestly, I scheduled in 30 minutes of story reading with the kids tonight, and the rest of the day until 10pm is either sitting on my butt in front of this computer writing training plans and working on an article for irunfar or running.  Well, at least the woman will never feel pressured to clean up when we come over. That’s been one of my mom missions all along. Mission Complete! Wish Ruby’s budding friendship luck. Otherwise, she’ll be back to making best friends at any playground she goes to.

Running: 18 miles with 10k at marathon pace effort (“marathon pace effort” = you can still feel good about your speed work even if it’s waaaaaaay slower than your marathon pace)
