Wounded Kid Pickups

LizaLiza

The plan was to run 10 miles today, and I was doing it and feeling great when Eliot texted six miles in: “Think Ruby will need stitches.”  I ran a nice fast mile home. “Wounded Kid Pickups.”  Then the battle to clean and close the wound above Ruby’s eyebrow commenced on my kitchen counter.  The kitchen has the best light in the house.  A lollipop, the Angry Birds movie, a big blanket for a kid taco wrap, and a bunch of other first aid supplies were needed.

She’s fast asleep now… likely with cavities forming on her teeth because I didn’t have the heart or willpower to make her brush her teeth after all that.

It’ll be interesting to see what tomorrow brings.

Needless to say, I’m not going to wait until the end of the day to get my run in again.

PS. I’ve found a new podcast called “The Negative Splits Podcast.”  They’ve got some great interviews.

Running 6 of 10 miles. One really fast.

Tomorrow: 4 miles + 1 hour.

Her future modeling career is intact. We took her to an Urgent Care the morning after because I was worried it might be too deep to close the way I had, but when they took the steri-strips and Tegaderm off, it looked just fine. I felt a little foolish, but they went ahead and glued it, which is much neater — and said I could have done that too. So now I know — and I’ve got a new bottle of glue for the next time one of them doesn’t stick the landing on the monkey bars. 🙂
