First class to Leadville

LizaLiza

I’m blogging from first class en route to Denver. It is a complete surprise being up here, and I’m fairly sure the other seven people up here know I’m really an economy-class girl.  The flight attendants certainly do — even though I’ve done my best not to marvel at things or straighten my legs out fully in front of me too often.

I’m quite pleased I managed to change my shirt and jeans in the car en route to the airport, so at least I’m cleanish.  (Oh my gosh! A beer has just been delivered in an actual glass.) (Goose Four Star Pils is very tasty in first class.)

My mom arrived this afternoon to watch Ruby and Asa while I’m gone.  They are over the moon and already full of ice cream.

I told Ruby I was going to miss her very much while I was gone, and she told me it was okay because Nonna was here.  The kids don’t get to  see my parents near enough, and I’m so happy they’re going to have such a great week while I’m gone.  And Eliot is going to eat much better than he usually does.  Shoot, they’re going to have to work on their happy faces when they meet me at the airport.

(Organic popcorn just arrived!)

So this summer was a bust as far as training goes, but for the first time in a long while, I’m excited about the ultra distance again.  Maybe because I’m so out of shape that it’s a very big challenge again. I’m also really excited to do some weight lifting.  And some regular showering.

So I’ll have six uninterrupted hours Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays to work and run while Ruby is in school.  I’ll workout from 4-6am on Tuesdays & Thursdays and then work while Ruby’s sleeping from 12-2pm.  I need to work in another 10 hours of coaching.  And then there’s writing… and house and yard upkeep and eyebrow plucking. I’m determined not work on the weekends… And I want to read — something other than news about Donald Trump.  We’ll see.  Perhaps crewing and pacing on the Badwater course will yield some time management epiphanies.

Taking a break from the kids, flying 1st class, going to the mountains, crewing, pacing on the Leadville trails.
Sounds like a vacation to me. ENJOY !!!
