I’m starting to think about MdS as a restful vacation with a bit running thrown in. I’m not underestimating the desert...
Megafauna, writing and reality
I’ve been asked to write an article about a runner who had a negative megafauna encounter during a trail marathon, and it’s killing me. Composition is so much harder than blogging Fact checking, research…not a lot of room for humor or foolishness. And I keep getting distracted by videos of gymnastics and swimming competitions — and work. (PS. I’m really happy to have been asked…It’s just definitely a Type 2 kind of gratitude. Happy after the writing is done vs. happy during the writing.)
Eliot’s taken the kids to the pool so I can struggle with the thesaurus.
Today’s run:
Goal: 10 miles at 7:00 – 7:24 pace
Reality: 6.5 miles at 8:20 pace.
Core: not yet….
15 weeks until Marathon 2 Marathon….
No room for humour??? I seriously doubt that when you are writing about encounters with megafauna! The mere title suggests a triffid-esque scene of epic comedy potential 😉
Oh, I can relate to being distracted easily as well, but then it struck me that’s probably related to an endurance training effect; allowing your mind to wonder is great for whiling away the solitary hours.
Hope you are all keeping well.
🙂 You too!
The tree snake you posted a while back could accurately be described as megafauna. I am sure you will come up with some fearfilled AND comedic encounters.
As for the mind wandering; who’s doesn’t ?
Good luck.
Thanks, Gene! You’re right about that tree snake. This is furrier megafauna. It’s been fun interviewing people.
