How to Make an Ice Bandana for Your Hot Runs

LizaLiza

Wearing an ice bandana during a long run or race when it’s really hot can change your experience from this:

to this:

Here’s out to make one for free.  (Assuming you don’t need to buy a $1 bandana or a needle and thread.)  It’ll only take 15-25  minutes depending on when you last threaded a needle.

SUPPLIES

Step 1: FOLD THE BANDANA IN HALF

STEP 2: START STITCHING AT THE TIP OF THE TRIANGLE

STEP 3: USE ANY SIMPLE STITCH

I  used an overcast stitch here.

But you can also use a running stitch,

or any stitch you like that will hold the edges together.

Your stitches don’t need to be this close.  They just need to be close enough to hold ice cubes in.

STEP 4: CONTINUE STITCHING UNTIL YOU’RE ABOUT 6 INCHES FROM THE TOP EDGE.

STEP 5: STITCH UP THE OPPOSITE SIDE THE SAME WAY.

THAT’S IT!

NOW IT’S READY FOR ICE.

You can also wear it in front.

More pictures to come tomorrow when I’m in running clothes.

You should think of it as stitches for a laceration — not sewing. 😉

thank you for the detailed instructions. I’d love to buy and support the team, too. I don’t have FB, so that link isn’t working for me. Any chance you have a different way to get to that storefront?
    Thanks, again.
