I’m starting to think about MdS as a restful vacation with a bit running thrown in. I’m not underestimating the desert...
Back on the wagon
LizaI’ve been down in the mouth about not getting most of my workouts in for the last two weeks. It took the wind out of my blogging sails. But I spent some good time on the treadmill today, and I’m getting up early to visit it again tomorrow before Eliot leaves for work, so I’ll be on track again this week at least. What really put the nail in the coffin last weekend was an article a friend posted about how not having enough time was a pitiable excuse. I can’t find the article or his pithy intro to it now, but it made me want to pelt the guy with Ruby’s half-eaten bananas. (They have their own shelf in our refrigerator.) And I was forced to eat Skittles at the Dallas-Fort Worth airport until my feelings of low self-esteem were replaced by sugar. Thankfully, I get a food stipend when I’m traveling for work.
So there were about 12,000 visitors to the Dallas Zoo this weekend, and I think 11,000 of them stood around at some point watching my students do their first aid scenarios. On breaks, I commiserated with the mountain lions caged behind our practice area.
I haven’t slept well for a while, so I’ll keep this short tonight. More tomorrow.

So refreshing that you keep it real, Liza! Thanks for writing!

Thanks, Emily!
Nick Kaminski
You’re awesome and I’m sure you’ll be back on track (maybe literally?) soon! Sorry I missed running with you, Dale, and Carl. I’m at about 1/2 the weekly milage my training spreadsheet is demanding, so I can empathize. I hope the flamingos behaved. Cheers!

Next time, Nick!
