I’m starting to think about MdS as a restful vacation with a bit running thrown in. I’m not underestimating the desert...
Fitness rooms and acculturationLiza
This is the picture I stared at for miles and miles on the fitness room treadmill over the past two days.
It’s not a bad photograph. But it is a useless thing to hang in front of a treadmill. It’s not distracting. Or funny. Or inspiring.
Interestingly the mirrors in the fitness room were positioned so that they didn’t reflect anybody using the equipment.
It’s not that I want to see myself running on a hotel treadmill at 4 in the morning. I just can’t decide whether it was careless or a very intentional decision to hang them like that.
So here is a picture of the place across from the hotel.
You can’t make out the words of the white sign in this picture, but I promise you they say “Additional Parking in Rear.”
The best part of this weekend was watching my co-instructor from Boulder, Colorado try get the grocery store worker to bag her purchases in the cloth bag she’d brought with her. “Sure,” he said. He double-bagged them in plastic and then lowered them into the batik bag with an indulgent smile.
We’re not in Boulder anymore, Toto…
My plane is boarding. MdS training update tomorrow.
