I’m starting to think about MdS as a restful vacation with a bit running thrown in. I’m not underestimating the desert...
And Asa will learn stuff tooLiza
I listened to an interview with Caroline Worstmann on “Marathon Talk.” She won Comrades and Two Oceans last year, and she talked about how her family — in particular her Asa-aged child — got really excited about her attempt to win Comrades. I want to figure out how to get Asa similarly excited about MdS. So far I’ve forced him to watch last year’s MdS video along with a Moroccan tourism video. He did not find either of these particularly interesting. I also made him the Overseer of Crossing Things Off my training plan. He was hoping that would somehow entail commanding me to do pushups throughout the day. Just using the big black Sharpie is much less exciting. I’m sure there’s some creative way I can drag him through a bit of geography, social studies, and leadership knowledge — and right into lots of excitement for his mother’s adventure. If you have any ideas, send them my way.
Here’s a link to last year’s MdS video. There’s a good shot in there of me and last year’s winner — which illustrates why I should be lifting heavy things right now instead of sitting here on a kitchen stool typing.
I’ll post the full plan this week.
