I’m starting to think about MdS as a restful vacation with a bit running thrown in. I’m not underestimating the desert...
Thanksgiving Break and Davy Crockett Glam Shots
LizaAsa has been out of school since last Friday. He’s not sick; Thanksgiving Break is just 9 days including the weekends this year. This strikes me as excessive. I’m all for cherishing these days with my young children and all, but when did the holiday expand to an entire week? And shouldn’t the school be sending out some sort of memo to older parents in October.
“Good Morning Old Mrs. Howard, We just wanted to send you a note to let you know that the Thanksgiving holiday has expanded since last century, and your child will have an entire week off of school. Nine days total counting the weekends. Plan ahead and prepare. PS. Your child’s library books are overdue.”
I just took a look at the school calendar and Monday and Tuesday are designated as “Staff Development Days.” I am glad the staff at Asa’s elementary school is developing. I’m all about development. I’m sure scheduling two development days before Thanksgiving Break makes a lot of sense. I would have liked it if my elementary school teachers had had a similar calendar when I was growing up. I’ll make sure to send a note in with Asa expressing my support of all-thing-development — if the boy actually survives the nine days with me and his baby sister.
In other news, the pictures from the Trail Running Camp are up. Don took some 3o00 pictures over the course of three days. This is one of my favorites. I’m teaching about heat and hydration. Of course.
Actually, this might be one of the nicest pictures I’ve ever taken. #bringingcrockettback
Well, it’s the middle of the night. I got up after Ruby woke up for a while, and I thought I’d power through some work — or pick up some of the chaos around the house. But I think I’m just going to crawl back into bed and listen to podcasts until I fall asleep. I’ve got 17 miles on the schedule tomorrow at 6:50-7:10 pace with 2 faster miles thrown in. Eeeeeeeeee.
Thanks to everybody who sent comments after my last post. You are wonderful.

Thanks Catherine!!

My two have nine effing days of break, too. I have to make myself read war histories to keep some perspective. Eating, too. I’m eating my feelings. Hugs, lady.

I linked it together with a lot of pauses. Not pretty, but done.
