Ultrarunning Mom

In my heart

I am still working on a presentation for the WMI annual staff meeting about heat illnesses.  I have to video tape the whole thing tonight and it might just kill me.  Picture me at 2am with my iPhone and piles of props.

Anyway, I just wanted to put up a quick post for posterity.

Asa the 5 year-old after school:  ”Mom, I don’t like the playground at school.  Nobody will play with me.  It makes me sad.  I don’t cry.  I mean, I don’t cry on the outside. I cry on the inside…in my heart.”

In my heart.

Dang.

I am now shaking my fist at the sky for Asa. He is breaking my heart!

  2. Kat Golando says:

Toby: I am going to pull my hair out.
Asa: If you pull your hair out, we will have to take you to the hospital.
T: Hospitals can’t fix hair, Silly!
A: They can if you pull skin off your skull while you’re pulling your hair out!
    T: I didn’t think about that…
A: I know. You just didn’t think that through.

These two have been having a BLAST and going about 500 mph… if that makes you feel a tiny bit better.

Ouch Liza! My heart’s shedding some tears over that one. But those kids are missing out. Asa is a blast to play with. I say, go ahead and play Asa, you have a killer imagination. Once they see how much fun youre having they’ll wanna join. And if they don’t I will.

Wow. Deep thoughts from such a young child. To his credit, he doesn’t act out in a negative way. You may have to bring this to his teachers attention (or Asa may become an ultra runner too soon).

I feel your pain. My daughter complains about this as well. I feel for her but she will come across issues that are tough all her life. On the bright side she is much happier now that we got her a dog. She is more confident and outgoing now. Best thing we can do for her right now. Take care.
