I’m starting to think about MdS as a restful vacation with a bit running thrown in. I’m not underestimating the desert...
Mimosas next yearLiza
Thought I was going to miss my blog post did you? Oh no! I’m here on Valentine’s Day writing training schedules for folks and rolling my foot over a lacrosse ball and blogging — by the light of a heart shaped candle a friend gave me. Asa’s Valentine’s M&Ms are within reach, but I am exercising some self control.
I had four little boys and their mothers over to the house today for a Valentine’s Day Tea. Only one cup of tea was served and the boys just wanted to whack each other with swords in the backyard instead of tracing their precious little hands for Valentine’s Day cards — but I’m counting it as a success. This is actually the first official craft event I’ve organized. I was full of caffeine and a good night’s sleep when I drove out to Enchanted Rock to teach over the weekend — before the sleet storm– and I e-mailed all my mom friends and invited them over. Fast forward to this morning’s 6:00am visit to the HEB before Eliot left for work (that’s the supermarket monopoly here in San Antonio for all you out-of-staters — Herbert E. Butts) for strawberries, whip cream, and construction paper — and me taping together squares of butcher block paper to cover the table exactly five minutes before everyone arrived. I’m a little embarrassed that this is the most entertaining effort I’ve put forth in four years. At the same time, I can’t help thinking Mimosas might have been a better idea than strawberry shortcake and homemade cards. I really had a good time though. And Eliot liked his “I love you this much” card a ton.
(No, of course it didn’t look this good.)
OK, back to coaching. I hope you all had a lovely day.
