I  just posted this Statler and Waldorf bit from the Muppet Show in a response to Sarah.  They totally capture post-ultra self-talk, don’t they?

S: That was the worst thing I’ve ever [done]!
W: It was terrible!
S: Horrendous!
W: Well it wasn’t that bad.
S: Oh, yeah?
W: Well, there were parts of it I liked!
S: Well, I liked alot of it.
W: Yeah, it was GOOD actually.
S: It was great!
W: It was wonderful!
S: Yeah, bravo!
W: More!

I had my first training run for Javelina yesterday.  The stress fracture seems entirely healed and I’m feeling like a runner again.  Now it’s time to start pushing a bit.  I ran at 70% perceived effort yesterday for 90 minutes.  I haven’t really focused on using perceived effort until now.  It worked really well for me — in the 100 degree heat.  Those Badwater folks are total rockstars.

Forecast: 107 degrees tomorrow.  110 Saturday.  108 Sunday.  Blergh.

Running:  45 minutes easy effort

    I think that Brian is the only one in our group that has properly trained up to wear a bomber jacket while training — maybe you should start with a nice Hawaiian shirt. :)
