Tamales and apple pie

We made it to Nacogdoches today and there’s been lots of good sitting and talking all afternoon.  This will be a very short post because I am too stuffed with tamales and apple pie to think straight.  Asa, Eliot, and I are snuggled into a double bed under piles of covers right now.  What with the blankets, the wood burning stove, and the Asa heater, it’s going to be a cozy night despite the freezing temps.  It’s hard to believe it was in the 80s in Houston yesterday.
I’ll run 15 miles down some lonely country roads early tomorrow morning.  It’s hunting season, so I’ll be wearing a nice orange vest and I’m hoping the grumpy dogs will be sleeping in.

Hello Liza – I made it to Arkansas and decided to look you up. Soooo enjoyed having you all there in our home. I know it was a bit tough being slightly under the weather. Still, what a joy to hear your stories and listen to the sweet voice of that adorable boy of yours. I will keep checking in here and reading about your running (and mothering) adventures.

Thanks Kerry! It was soooo good to be with you and everyone. Eliot and I were smiling the whole way back to San Antonio. Asa smiled in his sleep. Eliot’s bringing home his calendar tomorrow night to look at dates for the next trip.
