My Leadville history

LizaLiza

I worked for Outward Bound in Leadville after a “mid-course correction” in my life. That’s what my dad called it. I drove out from Virginia ready to spend the summer in a tent and my car. I arrived in town a few hours before my new instructor orientation, and stopped at a coffee shop to pass time. I sat outside drinking coffee and catching up on postcard writing. I was just finishing a note to my parents when an older woman stepped out of a bar across the street, lifted her shirt, and flashed oncoming traffic. It was 8 in the morning. Welcome to Lead-vegas. I can’t remember now if I shared that cultural experience in the letter home to my folks.
Another pain-free run tonight. I’m starting to get hopeful that Leadville might just involve the normal amount of pain that a 100 miler does. Best not to count the old flashing ladies before they hatch, I suppose.
Hope you all had a wonderful Thursday.
